Bandipur region was established in 1974 as a forest tiger reserve under Project Tiger. It is the most notable national park in India in the state of Karnataka. The park is best known for its diverse flora featuring several grasslands in the dry deciduous forest. Spanning 874 square kilometers, the park is a national treasure, and also known for the enthralling beauty of the surrounding parks and temples.

NH766 is the shortest route from Mysore to Bandipur. The roads of NH766 are in fine condition, and getting to Bandipur by car takes very little time. On this route, however, there are tolls. 4. Rajiv Gandhi National Park
Rajiv Gandhi National Park is also known as Nagarhole National Park. It is located in Southern Karnataka and is situated around 110 kilometers Northwest of Bandipur. The park features 47 streams, 41 artificial tanks, 4 lakes, 4 permanent streams, and a dam that draws visitors all year. The Kabini river in the park is a key supply of water for wild creatures including elephants, deer, and other easily spotted species.
